"Gershovitz" as several sources erroneously report.
The family name had been changed from Gershovitz
to Gershvin before he was born. Also note that
his birth certificate erroneously reports "Gershwine"
as his last name.
** George Gershwin did not die June 11th,
nor did he die at his home in Beverly Hills, as a
couple of sources claim.
