Walter Knott |
|
Walter Knott was an American businessman, amusement park
pioneer, and co-founder (with his wife Cordelia Knott)
of Knott's Berry Farm. Knott's is the oldest and one of the
largest themed amusement parks in the United States.
Walter Knott was closely associated with the boysenberry
(a cross between the red raspberry, loganberry and
blackberry) and was largely responsible for popularizing
the new berry, and introducing innovations which led
to its wide-spread cultivation. The berries he produced
were utilized in boysenberry pies, jams and jellies,
which were always a popular fixture at the amusement
park.
