Yuri Gagarin

Yuri Gagarin was a Soviet cosmonaut who was the first human to travel into space (April 12th, 1961), and the first to orbit the Earth. He later served as Deputy to the Supreme Soviet and was Deputy director of the Soviet Cosmonaut Training Center.
